The master disc includes the following files.
- Game program and data files of the disc boot game
- Content information files of the disc boot game
- System files and other automatically generated files
The content information files include for example the main graphic representing the game content, and are used mainly to show game content on the system software.
System files have the parameters necessary to display and start up a game. There is no need to create the system files since they are automatically created.
Note: It is also possible for the game master disc to contain HDD boot game packages (install packages) in addition to the files for the disc boot game. In this document, it is assumed (unless otherwise specified) that discs do not contain any install packages. For information regarding install packages, refer to the document "Install Disc Specifications".
(2) Create disc image
Create the disc image using the Disc Image Generator for PLAYSTATION®3 (the "Generator"). For details regarding this procedure, refer to "Disc Image Generator for PLAYSTATION®3 User's Manual".
(3) Create master disc
Use the Generator or commercial writing software to burn the disc image onto a BD-R/BD-RE disc. This is the master disc. For information regarding the physical format of the game disc and the corresponding writing media to create a master disc, refer to "Disc Image Generator for PLAYSTATION®3 User's Manual".
(4) Verify master disc
Verify the master disc using the Generator. For details regarding this procedure, refer to "Disc Image Generator for PLAYSTATION®3 User's Manual".
Note: When debugging using the Reference Tool, it is possible to use the BD emulator feature of the Reference Tool instead of burning the disc image onto an optical disc. In this case, instead of the above steps (2) to (4), write the disc image onto the HDD of the BD emulator. For details, refer to "Disc Image Generator for PLAYSTATION®3
